Always Learning - a homeschooling day in the life featured on Fearless Homeschool.

This is a typical Monday – Thursday for us. On Fridays we are quite autonomous. Weekends are filled with swimming lessons, cricket training, baking & visiting family and plenty of trips that tie in with their weekly learning!

8am – 10:30am – The children are up, dressed and have had breakfast.  They check the timetable and take out the folder of the first subject they will be working on. My eldest is studying for her IGCSE’s and is good at self study, so she gets on with her own work using her books, internet and asking for help when needed. This morning she studied ‘Of Mice and Men’ for English Literature and completed her Science Crest Award, where she measured water in test tubes for her ‘Penguins in a Huddle’ experiment. My 10 & 8 year olds are on a similar level so today they started a project on Egypt looking up information on the internet and using books they had chosen at the library. My 5 year old completed some of his handwriting books and my 2 year old played with a preschool craft I have prepared. During this time they each have an Arabic lesson with their tutor in Egypt over Skype.

10:30am – I took my 2 year old and two of the boys to a Lego Duplo play session which are at the local library. They also chose new books and helped stamp them for the librarian.

11:30am – Back home for Maths. The boys looked at 3D net shapes and made their own.

12:30pm – Lunchtime & Reading

1:30pm – Home Ed in the park! They love to be outside when the weather is fine, while still learning along the way. We completed the John Muir award in this park by making duck huts for the lake, going on a scavenger hunt, clearing the streams and identifying birds in the birdboxes around the park for the Park Manager.

3pm – Free time to do as they please, but they’re still learning! My 10 year old enjoys coding online, my 13 year old is completing an Arts Award so gathers her art things together, and the three little ones play and read.

5:30pm – Dinner time!

7pm – getting ready for Taekwondo lessons.

 Thankyou for sharing, Nicola!
